Hello Lima, First some good news: The Livingston County Land Bank is talking with the DEC re: the former K&K Stripping property (Buell Avenue)in the Village of Lima for possibly partnering with the DEC on the remediation and demo plan to restore the property to residential zoning status and a clean bill of health. This is the sort of project the Land Bank was created to take on. The end result will be a change from a Toxic eyesore to a residential lot.
Now the not so good news: The pergola that was put up in 2010 as part of the Library addition has started to collapse under its own water logged weight. Forensic inspection indicates that the contractor did not build it to specification and omitted the required sealants on the horizontal member caps among other things. Thank you to the Town Highway Dept for bracing it up (doing a better job in 10 minutes than the original). It will all have to be deconstructed. Options will be addressed by the library board.
As if it could get any worse: It is with much regret that the Lima Crossroads Council has had to cancel the 2020 Lima Crossroads Blues Festival. We held out as long as we could, but there appears to be no lifting of restrictions for large outdoor events.
The following parts of the festival were determined to be difficult to manage without attracting the thousands of people we normally have: Crafters and Vendors, Kids Activities, BBQ Contest, Bed Race, Euchre Tournament & Open music concerts.
Here is the part where we take the lemons we have been handed and make lemonade: What there will be is a Townwide Parade on Sunday August 2nd. (possibly the first ever?) Form up at noon, parade at 1. Vehicles, towed or trailered beds and the like. Bed prizes for decorations. No walkers, this will be a long parade. Anyone who lives or owns a business or has a civic group or club in the Town of Lima (yes that includes the Village) can participate. Sign ups will be handled by the Town Clerk 585-582-1130.
The parade route is: Approach from the north and form up on Garden St., left on South Lima Rd, left on Poplar Hill, right on Woodruff, left on 15A, right on Corby, left on Bragg, left on Martin, left on York, right on 5&20 left on Michigan, left onto Rainbow, loop back to Meadowview, right on Michigan, left on 5&20, right on Dalton, end at the ELIM parking lot.
Thank you for your support in years past and we look forward to the 2021 Lima Crossroads Music Festival.
See you around Town!
