Hello Lima! Happy New Year to you! 2021 has the bright promise to be better that 2020 for sure. First off a big thank you to the Livingston county Sherriff’s Dept and all of our first responders who participated in “OPERATION LIGHT IT UP” on December 9th. This was the first ever “OPERATION LIGHT IT UP” in Livingston County with the mission of brightening the day of our seniors in nursing facilities and NOYES hospital in Dansville. Stops were made at the Avon Nursing Home in Avon, the Alpine Manor Nursing Home in Lima, the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia, the Morgan View Estates in Geneseo, the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mount Morris, and NOYES Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Both our Lima Fire Dept and Lima Ambulance (sporting brand new Christmas hats) participated.
Yes, there are dots of orange spray paint in the Save A Lot parking lot. Surveyors have been out doing their work as part of a real estate sale. Closing is supposed to be in January 2021. Watch for signs on the building. The Development firm of Morocco Bros. out of Syracuse is the buyer.
Elevator construction continues here at the Town Hall. A portion of the basement records room will be the elevator mechanical space. Some records have been move to the first floor to accommodate. The space is taking shape, the wall track supports are installed and the hole in the 2nd floor has been cut. We are experiencing intermittent power outages as the conduits and such are moved around. A minor inconvenience now gets us major convenience later!
Of course, with the shortest day of the year behind us and more light each day the Town Clerk is once again collecting taxes. Feel free to use the secure lock box on the west side of the building facing the trooper barracks. Even though the entrance next to the box is blocked off for construction, the box is checked daily. Please call us at 582-1130 with any questions.
Winter does provide us with some extra challenges. If you are taking a walk on our road shoulders, please wear orange or something reflective and if it is dusk or dawn a flashlight of some kind is a good idea too. The Town recognizes that walking is good for you and an ever increasing number of people are daily walkers. Stay safe and give the drivers who are all getting used to sharing the road with pedestrians as much warning as possible. Walking in the fresh air helps us all.
See you around Town.
