Hello Lima, Fall is upon us for sure. Our highway dept is already setting snow fence and converting the dump trucks for plowing and salting. Snow will be arriving soon.
The transaction windows have finally been installed in the Town Hall. One each for the Assessor, Code Enforcement Officer, Town and Village offices. This was done by removing the door glass for each office and installing a sliding window. It took more than 6 months to get done due to the spring shut down of the glass tempering facility. Thanks to County Wide Glass for installing.
Elevator construction has started! You can see the lift platform has been installed on the front steps. The basement is loaded with building material so no meetings down there until we are finished. Once the front steps lift is completely operational, then the side door to the parking lot will be off limits until the project is complete. Like every project right now, there are some long lead times on materials. We will see this through with a little patience and when it is done, the Top floor will be useable for public meetings and events.
Thank you to Gigi Correll for many years of service on the Assessment Board of Review and as the Clerk to the Joint Planning and Zoning Boards. Her husband John has accepted a new job out of state necessitating her resignation. Yes, that means by the time you are reading this, there will be a new Acting Mayor for the Village of Lima. Best wishes to both of them as they start their new adventure.
The Town budget is completed. You will see a slight Town Tax decrease on your tax bills. Yes that is printed correctly, a DECREASE. Thank you to all the departments for tightening up their budgets to help make this happen.
The Annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be at the 4 corners on Wednesday November 11th at 11am. Dress warmly & come & watch this annual event.
The Lima VFW will be having its annual collection for Veterans this year on Saturday December 5th from 10am to 2pm right at the Lima Town Hall in the first floor board room. Due to COVID restrictions, only prepackaged and sealed items can be accepted. This is heartbreaking as we normally get a lot of really nice handmade blankets and the like. However, the VA will not even accept socks if they are not in completely sealed packaging. Toiletries, underwear, socks and the like are all needed – just be sure that they are brand new & sealed in the factory packaging.
Please do not forget the Lima Food Pantry is still helping those in need. Pasta sauce, juice and cereal are always in short supply. Items may be dropped off at the Town Hall anytime using the drop box until the temperature is below zero out. Then items can be left in the Town hall during business hours. M, T, F 8 – 12 and 1 to 4, W 9 – 12 and Thurs Noon to 7pm.
See you around Town.
