Mike Falk, Lima Town Supervisor
Hello Lima, Snow is slowly working its way into our lives again. Here at the Town Hall, the dulcet sound of jack hammers and sawzalls is gracing our ears. It is exciting to see the elevator project going forward. Along with the construction work at the gas station across the street and the work for the giant smoker and walk in cooler behind Jonny B’s and the new bakery build out where the urgent care was! We are moving forward.
Set your sites on the 4th of July fireworks celebration! Both the Town and Village have pledged to double the size of the display in 2021. Plan to be here for what will be a great show at Mark Tubbs Park.
Save the dates for the Lima Crossroads Festival July 29 to Aug 2. We are already about 40% toward our fundraising goal to host the event. Remember this is all free (the music, the kids rides, etc.) to the public, paid for by local businesses. If you are interested in joining the small intrepid group behind the festival contact me here at the Town Hall, 582-1130.
If you have not yet been to the new Livingston County Veteran’s Monument it is worth the trip. The giant steel poppies were made by Veterans for Veterans and all the site work to form that giant American Flag pattern was a combination of the Livingston County Highway Dept and many local contractors. Proof that when we work together we can do great things. Set your GPS for Gypsy Lane in Mt. Morris and the monument with its parking lot are first on the left. Many of the poppies are tagged for the Veteran who welded them or in honor of other Veterans. Look for the site dedication to be on June 14th, the Army Birthday (Flag day too).
The roof at the George France restaurant is in need of some serious repairs. This will push the opening off for a bit. Keep your eye on the building for signs indicating the opening over the winter.
The Town and Village Boards met jointly on November 17th. There will be a re-instatement of a Park Commission. There was also some discussion of expanding water access in the Town outside the Village. If you live outside the Village limits and would like access to public water, be sure to call the Town office at 582-1130 and get us your name, address and phone number. This is in the early planning stages – nothing is set in stone yet.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours! See you around Town.
