LIMA – According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office a Lima, NY resident was arrested on drug related charges after a traffic stop.
On October 29, 2018 Deputy Michael Phillips was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office STOP DWI
Unit when he stopped a vehicle on East Main Street in the Village of Lima for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 38 year old Michael R. Jones. During the Deputy Sheriff’s roadside interview with the driver, he could smell the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that Jones was in possession of marijuana, as well as a quantity of cocaine.
Jones was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the
7th Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Jones was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Jones was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at
the Livingston County Jail before Village of Dansville Justice Scott Kenney. The Judge
remanded Jones to the custody of the Sheriff on $250 cash bail or $500 bond.
