LOCATION: Dansville Library
DUTIES: The work involves responsibility for basic level librarian duties. Employees in this class
are expected to perform specific applications of professional duties under the general
supervision of other professional Librarians. Supervision may be exercised over Library
Assistants, Clerks, Pages and volunteers. Performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must meet the following requirements to be approved to take the exam:
Residency – There are no residence requirements for filing applications, but preference in appointments may be
given to candidates who have been legal residents of the library district where the vacancy exists for four
months prior to the filing date.
General Qualifications – Master’s Degree in Librarianship from a library school that is accredited by the
American Library Association or recognized by the New York State Education Department as following
accepted education practices.
Special Qualifications – Eligibility for a New York State Public Librarian’s professional certificate at time of
application; possession of certificate at time of appointment and maintenance of license throughout
PROCESS: Submit to the Livingston County Personnel Office by the application deadline:
(1) A fully completed Livingston County Application for Examination or
(2) The exam fee or waiver request.
Applications may be obtained from the Livingston County Personnel Office or on the
Personnel Department page of the Livingston County website. If you are applying for
more than one exam, a separate application is required for each exam.
