The NYS Corrections Law requires registered sex offenders to update local law enforcement of a change of address within 10 days of moving. The charge, Failure to Register and Verify, is a felony under the law. The charge against Alex Drake is a class D felony due to having a
previous conviction for the same charge.
It is alleged that Drake moved from his residence in Leicester, NY to Perry, NY and failed to notify law enforcement of the change of address.
Drake was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the charge being a felony and they advised Drake to be held without bail per NYS Criminal Procedure Law due to Drake having previous felony convictions.
Drake was later arraigned at the Livingston County Jail as part of the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) before Village of Dansville Justice Scott Kenney. The Judge remanded Drake to the custody of the Sheriff without the possibility of bail. Drake will
be held at the Livingston County Jail for further court proceedings.
