A Waste Management garbage truck hit the Mill St., Leroy railroad bridge which triggered an explosion of the garbage truck’s gas tank, causing it to explode, damaging the bridge, on July 15.
Reportedly, the explosion could be heard for miles, as far away as Bergen.
The driver of the vehicle was unhurt, but the railroad bridge was damaged, and all railroad traffic over the bridge has been suspended.
The truck was headed north on Mill street when it caught a power line. The bridge height is 12’6″. While truck was 13 feet tall with the fuel tanks.
