LEICESTER – A man and woman from Leicester have been charged by federal prosecutors with trying to recruit a minor for prostitution in Rochester.
An undercover operation was arranged to meet the girl in Gates. When officers arrived, they took a statement from the girl. Shamp and Cook were arrested and charged with recruiting an underage girl to commit a commercial sex act and conspiracy to do so.
Shamp and Cook now face 10 years to life in prison and a $250,000 fine. Shamp is being held without bail pending a detention hearing on Jan. 27 at 10 a.m.
Cook was released on her own recognizance and will return to court on February 5 at 9 a.m. Mugshots were not released, since the case is being handled in federal court.
