GENESEO – The building that formerly housed Kelly’s Saloon is now officially scheduled for demolition this week, months after a fire ravaged the structure.
Geneseo Village Trustee Ben Gajewski reached out to Main Street businesses Monday morning to communicate the plan as it stands, and advise the community that the sidewalk will be closed during demolition on Wednesday and Thursday.
“The work will necessitate closing the sidewalk off completely in front of Kelly’s,” said Gajewski. “Hopefully a four-foot wide walkway can be coned off out into the street and around the perimeter of the construction area and back to the sidewalk for pedestrians, but this will depend on the equipment being used in the demolition and if it can safely be done.”
On Tuesday, crews install barricades and safety measures to prepare for demolition. The building will be removed on Wednesday and Thursday.
Gajewski said that he will send more information to local businesses as it becomes available to the Village.
