DANSVILLE – Brae Burn Golf Course is in search of more sponsors for their August 8 tournament in memory of elementary school teacher and coach Kyle Button.
The tournament will raise funds for the developing cancer treatment facility at Noyes Memorial Hospital, which was planned by Noyes and the Wilmont Cancer Institute in Rochester and will soon be reviewed by the New York State Health and Health Planning Council.
“The announcement about the cancer center happened to be very timely, at about the same time as Kyle’s passing,” said John Shay, an organizer of the event. “It was his wish to help out that project however possible. We have received some money from sponsors, but we of course want to raise and donate as much as we can.”
In January 2015, Button tragically lost his battle with stage 4 colon cancer, with which he was diagnosed at age 28. He was a prominent and productive member of the Dansville community along with his wife, Lynne, and young son, Matthew. He worked at the Ellis B. Hyde Elementary School in Dansville, where he taught 5th and 6th grade with Lynne. He was a Dansville Class of 2002 alumni and served as a youth football, basketball and baseball coach.
Lynne and family friends are organizing the tournament and are currently in search of sponsorship. Any business can be a ‘hole’ sponsor by donating $100. To become a ‘silver’ sponsor you can donate $250. To be a ‘gold’ sponsor you can donate $500 or more.
Donations of any amount are tax deductible and are currently being accepted along with any gift basket items, gift certificates, or possible raffle prizes.
Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor or donating can fill out a form here and return it with a check made out to the Noyes Foundation, with ‘Cancer Center’ on the memo line. Checks can be mailed to Jon Shay @ 9384 Main Street, Dansville, New York 14437.
For any questions you may have contact Lynne Button at (585) 943-8648 (cell)/email@example.com (e-mail), or Melinda Rittenhouse at (585) 335-9229 (home) or (585) 727-3679 (cell).
The tournament is $75 per golfer, which includes a cart and dinner, due at registration table the day of the tournament. Deadline for registration is August 1, which starts one half hour before shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
