GENESEO – The flight of a lifetime for a Korean War veteran that was originally scheduled for Thursday afternoon was postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions.
According to Steven Serdikoff, Media Coordinator for US National Aerobatic Champion Rob Holland, takeoff is now scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. at the National Warplane Museum airfield.
Veteran Richard “Dick” Walters was nominated by his wife Ruth for the the Rob Holland Ultimate Airshows Hero Flight Program, a program Holland created in 2010 to provide rides to veterans all across the country as a way of thanking them for their service and sacrifice.
Ruth nominated Dick based on his spending his retirement as a volunteer with his local VA hospice, sitting bedside with veterans who have no family or loved ones to be with them.
Dick and Ruth are regular attendees of the National Warplane Museum Airshow and are big fans of Rob Holland, having watched him perform at the airshow in Geneseo many times over the years.
