GENESEO – Demolition crews have the basic tools in place to put to rest the condemned structure at 71 Main Street, formerly Kelly’s Saloon, and plan to begin structural demolition on Monday.
The building, which also housed the former location of Honey Girl Gourmet (now at 61 Main), was condemned after an accidental fire ripped through the structure on July 29. Demolition will extend into the next week.
Empire Wrecking out of Ontario, NY, are handling the demolition are currently in the process of covering windows in the attached buildings, 75 and 65 Main Street, to protect against any possible asbestos dust.
The demolition also had to wait for crews to lay concrete for a new curb in front of 71 Main, which will set over the weekend.
