MOUNT MORRIS — The Village of Mount Morris’s election this March is guaranteed to spark some interest within the community.
A full ballot will be in order, with three candidates from both the Democratic and Republican parties competing for two trustee positions along with the mayor’s seat, maintaining the current political trend of Democratic nominees continuing on in 2013.
“It doesn’t matter who you vote for. I just want people to go out there and vote,” said mayoral candidate Patsy Zingaro.
The Democratic bids for mayoral and trustee nominations within the Village of Mount Morris were recently released. Running for mayor is Patsy Zingaro, a former Mount Morris police officer and superintendent of village streets. Candidates also representing the Democratic Party are trustee nominees Joe Corbett and Geoff Pagano.
“I just wanted to get involved in local village politics. It’s nothing to do with party affiliations; it’s people. I’m a people person. Whatever the residents of the Village of Mount Morris want to see, hopefully I can bring that to the table,” said Corbett, a Mount Morris native of 21 years.
The March 19 election may prove to be a tight race with this many viable candidates to vote for.
