(Geneseo, NY) Former Federal prosecutor and local attorney Jennifer Noto today announced her candidacy for Livingston County Judge in the 2019 election. Dozens of friends and family cheered her on as she made the announcement at the Valley Oak Event Center in Geneseo.
“As a former Federal prosecutor and Assistant District Attorney, I’ve gained valuable experience that will help ensure that justice is done in County Court. Additionally, serving as the Social Services Attorney for Livingston County has provided me with a deep understanding of the complex matters that come before Family Court,” said Noto. “This unique combination of experience has prepared me well to serve in the critical role that our next County Judge will have for 10 years or longer.”
From 2007 to 2016, Noto worked on some of the biggest criminal cases throughout our region as an Assistant United States Attorney working out of the Western District of New York. She was assigned to the Narcotics and Organized Crime section and directed multifaceted large-scale investigations. She handled numerous complex trials, hearings and warrants and successfully argued appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
She began her career as a prosecutor in 2005 as an Assistant District Attorney in Livingston County, where she prosecuted felony sexual abuse and sexual assault cases, chaired the Domestic Violence Task Force, and worked on investigations involving child abuse allegations. Prior to her work in the D.A.’s Office, Noto served as a Court Attorney in New York State Supreme Court’s Appellate Division, Fourth Department.
Since 2016, Noto has served as the Senior Social Services Attorney for the Livingston County Department of Social Services. In this role, she provides counsel on all legal matters, including investigations and cases involving child welfare and adult protective services, financial fraud, complicated Medicaid issues and more.
“I’m running for Livingston County Judge to give back to the community I’ve called home for my entire life,” said Noto. “As we head into 2019, I plan to run an ambitious and aggressive campaign. My family and campaign team are ready to hit the ground running.”
Born and raised in Livingston County, Noto lives in Geneseo with her husband, Cory, a Deputy with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, and their 12 year old son, Jack, who attends Geneseo Central School District. She is a graduate of Mount Morris Central Schools (where she was named a “Distinguished Alumni” just last month), American University, and the University at Buffalo Law School.
Noto has given back to her community by volunteering her time with numerous community organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors for Chances and Changes, coaching and volunteering with youth sports, and serving as an Elder and a Session Member at the First Presbyterian Church of Tuscarora.
The 2019 Primary Election is expected to take place on Tuesday, September 10th. The 2019 General Election is slated for November 5th. Two openings for Livingston County Judge will be on the ballot in 2019 due to the pending retirements of current Judges Robert Wiggins and Dennis Cohen.
