MOUNT MORRIS — Jane’s Pantry is expanding and adding a tea room to their already existing retail store.
The Pantry Mouse Tea House will have an open house that will take place during the Italian Festival in Mount Morris, August 17 and 18. The soft opening will take place later that week and will be followed by a grand opening later in August.
“It is not the tea that fast food chains carry,” said Jane Oakes, Owner of Jane’s Pantry. “It is a much different type of tea.”
During the open house, Jane’s Pantry will allow people to come in a sample hot teas, as well as hot teas that are brewed into iced tea.
One hot tea that will be available for sample is Ajiri tea, a black tea.
Ajiri tea has won North American Tea Championships, as well as European Tea Championships, and was a double gold winner at the Fancy Food Show,” said Oakes.
Types of teas that will be available at the tea room are black, green, white, chai, and matcha.
The tea room at Jane’s Pantry will not serve a full lunch.
Oakes explained that in order for small businesses to thrive in a small town, they need to work together, and not try to do what other existing businesses are already doing.
“We want to complement each other not compete with each other,” said Oakes.
Prices vary by item at Jane’s Pantry.
“You can get a lovely tea and pastry assortment for $7,” said Oakes.
The tea room will be open daily from 12:30p.m. until 5:30p.m. with the exception of being closed on Wednesdays, and will be available mornings and evenings for reservations for such things as meetings,
birthday parties, and more.
