LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman who is on parole for allegedly carrying a narcotic pill into the county jail.

According to a press release from Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Jessica M. Sweeting, 39, was arrested for felony Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree and misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.
Sweeting arrived at the jail for an unrelated allegation of a parole violation. While processing a new inmate into the jail in the intake area due to an alleged parole violation, Deputy Donald Plank of the Jail Division alleges that Sweeting removed a pill from her pants pocket and discarded it on the ground.
The pill was recovered and identified as a dangerous narcotic.
Sweeting was processed by Central Booking Deputies and held. Sheriff’s Sergeant Aaron Galvin of the Jail Division and New York State Parole Officer Parole Wayne Poth assisted.
Geneseo Town Justice Kathleen Houston arraigned Sweeting and went along with the recommendation of the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office to hold her at the jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
