Jacobs Legislation to Honor Local Hero Passes House

“Christian Koch was an American hero, husband, father, and friend. He served our nation honorably, both domestically and abroad, in the US Army National Guard and New York State Police. Christian spent decades in service to our country and he made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.” Jacobs said. “Christian leaves behind a humbling legacy of selfless service and dedication. I am deeply honored to announce this effort to create a memorial in Honeoye Falls in his honor. Our nation may never be able to repay his bravery, but we are eternally grateful. God bless our fallen heroes and their families.”

“I am so honored that the House passed the legislation for the post office in Honeoye Falls to be named after my husband, Christian Koch. He loved this town and community and was excited to raise our children here together,” Teressa DaGama, wife of Christian Koch, said.

Chief Warrant Officer 4 Christian J. Koch joined the United States Army National Guard in 2000. Initially, he served as an infantryman in A Company of the 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry, before becoming a helicopter pilot in 2008. In 2004 he served as part of Operation Noble Eagle, from 2008 to 2009 he served in the war in Iraq, and from 2012 to 2013 he served in the war in Afghanistan. On January 20th, 2021, CW4 Christian Koch tragically passed away when his UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter crashed during a National Guard training mission. He is survived by his wife and four children.

The legislation honoring Christian Koch now awaits passage in the United States Senate.
