On May 6, 2022 Sheriff’s Investigator Shawn Whitford was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Operation Safe Interstate initiative when he stopped a vehicle on Interstate 390 in the Town of Avon for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic law.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as Duane A. Young, age 38, from Rochester, NY. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Carlos H. Glasgow, age 43, also from Rochester.
During the stop, the Investigator did determine that Young’s license was revoked, and also suspected drug activity, prompting him to initiate a roadside drug investigation.
The roadside investigation revealed that Glasgow was in possession of cocaine.
Young was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree. He was also issued multiple traffic tickets for additional violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic law. He will appear at a later date in the Town of Avon Court to answer the charges.
Glasgow was charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree.
Glasgow was transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charges. It was recommended that Glasgow be held without the chance of bail due to him having two prior felony convictions.
Glasgow was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Groveland Judge Love. The Judge did remand Glasgow to the custody of the Sheriff without the chance of bail to be held for further court proceedings.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Glasgow at the court arraignment for his defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was notified but did not appear to represent the people.
Assisting with the investigation for the Sheriff’s Office were Sergeant Caleb Cutting, Deputy Jerry Pilkenton and Deputy Gordon Truax.
