GENESEO: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Livingston County Jail Inmate on Evidence Tampering and Promoting Prison Contraband Charges.
Sheriff’s Office members in the Jail Division handled a contraband investigation during intake procedures for an intermittent weekend inmate. During a hygiene search the inmate removed contraband that was concealed on her person and swallowed it. The inmate did turn over additional contraband that was later determined to be a sleep supplement.
The inmate was identified as 34 year old, Devon McEachern, who was reporting for the last weekend of her weekend intermittent sentence due to being sentenced in the Town of Caledonia Court for drug charges.
Corporal Matthew Romanowski of the Sheriff’s Office Jail Division arrested McEachern on the felony charge of Tampering with Physical Evidence and misdemeanor charge of Promoting Prison Contraband.
McEachern was processed by Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charge. It was recommended that McEachern be held on these charges in lieu of $2500 cash or $5000
McEachern was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Jail before Town of Lima Justice Harris. The Judge remanded McEachern back to the custody of the Sheriff after setting bail at $1000 cash or $2000 bond.
Assisting in the investigation were Deputy Sarah-Catherine Sargeant and Deputy Jessica Carnavale both of the Jail Division.
