GENESEO — With many improvements to Main Street planned for the next year, will the parking issue be addressed?
Bill Davis of the MRB group presented the plans to improve Main Street in the next year. The proposal included improvements to the north half of main street; from court street to the monument.
The improvements would repair have water lines, sewer services, and potentially replacing some of the curb replacement and sidewalk as needed. However, as these improvements are being made, there are little plans to address the parking problems on Main Street.
Main Street Business owners Angel Berry and Spring Morrow suggest a Committee be formed where solutions to parking can be discussed and brainstorm, “Somewhere where we can just brainstorm.”
“I have days where you just drive around, drive around, drive around,” stated Berry.
However, Trustee Wilcox claims the streets are only busy during lunch times.
Mayor Hatheway said, “one of the signs of a healthy main street is a parking problem, but that’s not to say we can’t do something about it”
The construction improvements being made to Main Street will improve its quality, and this committee will be used “to help us move Geneseo Main street forward,” said Berry.
In the future keep an eye out for these improvements!
