AVON: Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Mount Morris resident on drug related charges after a traffic stop. On July 21, 2019 at approximately 2:30 am, Deputy Shawn Whitford was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Operation Safe Interstate Initiative when he stopped a vehicle on Interstate 390 in the Town of Avon for a violation of the NYS vehicle and Traffic Law.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as 43 year old Roger J. Yencer. The Deputy Sheriff suspected that Yencer was involved in drug activity and conducted a roadside drug investigation. The roadside investigation revealed that Yencer was in possession of crack cocaine. Yencer was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (class A Misdemeanor) along
with the Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.
Yencer was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Yencer was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Livonia Judge Margaret Linsner. The Judge remanded Yencer to the custody of the Sheriff on $350 cash bail or $700 bond.
