Avon: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Conesus resident on drug related charges after an investigation was conducted on a traffic stop.
On July 6, 2019 at approximately 10:50pm, Deputy Shawn Whitford was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Operation Safe Interstate Initiative when he conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 390 in the Town of Avon for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as 28 year old, Timothy J. Chapman Jr. The Deputy Sheriff suspected that Chapman was involved with drug activity and conducted a roadside drug investigation. The roadside investigation revealed that Chapman was in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana.
Chapman was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Chapman was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Chapman was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LCCAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Nunda Judge James Mann. The Judge released Chapman on his own recognizance.
