AVON – The Humane Society of Livingston County has secured a new adoption center on Genesee Street through a generous donation from the Parkhouse Living Trust.
According to a press release from the Humane Society of Livingston County, the space for their Adoption Center at 67 Genesee Street in Avon was donated by property owner Jean Schoenthal through August and September, and they have now extended their stay.
“The donation from the property owner allowed us to bring the animals we have placed with foster homes to one location, making adoptions much easier,” said the Humane Society. “In fact, we have doubled the number of adoptions from August of last year. Thanks to a new donation from the Parkhouse Living Trust we have been able to secure the space through the end of the year. ”
The adoption center is currently open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
The county Humane Society says its next goal is to find additional funding to sign a year lease for the space. Sponsorship opportunities are available for 2016 if any business or individuals are interested.
The organization is also seeking volunteers. Anyone interested can contact the county Humane Society at email@example.com.
