HoneyComb Hair Pulls Far-Flung Regulars to Avon Sweet Spot

AVON – A newcomer to Genesee Street is drawing loyal customers to Avon from across the Genesee Valley region for haircuts, coloring, or just a quick touch-up.

HoneyComb Hair Studio owner Alyssa Barnhart, a Geneseo native who now lives in Avon, said that her loyal customers and those of her two hairdressers, Becky Wingerden and Kait Kowasz, still make the hike into Livingston County since they all moved to 30 Genesee Street from Fairport in January 2016.

“Kait and Becky’s clients followed them from Fairport and came into Avon and were like ‘we didn’t even know this town was here,'” said Barnhart. “One of our regulars drives from Swain every week. That’s how you know people really love their hair dressers, when they drive for them.”

Barnhart said that after cutting hair in Fairport for several years, she was glad to move back to the small town feel of Livingston County to firmly plant her roots.

“Livingston County is a totally different feel,” added Barnhart. “Fairport is nice and has smalltown feel in some areas, but not like Livingston County. I wanted to move back with my husband so that our kids could go to a small school.”

HoneyComb offers both formal and routine hair styling for men and women, and plans are already in place to expand to nails as well.

“We can prepare you for prom, a wedding, a job interview, or just touch you up a little,” said Barnhart. “We do color, perms…pretty much the only thing we don’t have are hair extensions.”
