Dedevie “Dede” Booth of Honeoye , a registered nurse in the Birthing Center at F.F.Thompsong Hospital in Canandaigua, recently was awarded the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She had been nominated by a young couple from Canandaigua who were quite impressed and grateful about Booth’s knowledge, care, and compassion that she exhibited during the birth of their first child in December.

The DAISY Award is part of a nationwide nurse recognition program, and Booth is the third recipient of Thompson’s quarterly DAISY award. Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer Hazel Robertshaw presented Booth with her award. Booth was presented with a pin, a certificate and a statue called “The Healer’s Touch” s during a ceremony held at the hospital with hospital administrators and nursing leaders.
. As a recipient of the DAISY Award, Booth is also eligible for scholarships, certifications discounts, and medical mission grants from The DAISY Foundation.
