LIVONIA – A Rochester man was arrested for drug possession and DWAI Drugs on East Lake Road after a Sheriff’s Deputy with the STOP DWI Unit pulled him over and found that there was heroin and unprescribed Suboxone in the car.
According to a press release from Undersheriff Matthew Bean, Sheriff Thomas Dougherty advises that Clifford Smith Jr., 53, was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a misdemeanor. Smith was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a class A misdemeanor, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in Third Degree, Failure to Keep Right and Operating a Motor Vehicle with Restrictions.
On July 3 at about 7:32 p.m., Deputy Brandan Flickner of the Livingston County Sheriff’s STOP DWI Unit conducted a vehicle stop on a motorist that he observed failing to keep right on East Lake Rd in the Town of Livonia. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Clifford Smith Jr. After a roadside investigation, it was later determined that Smith was operating the motor vehicle while his ability was impaired by drugs.
Clifford was also found in possession of one bag of heroin and one strip of non-prescribed suboxone. Smith was transported to Rochester City Police Department for a drug evaluation, and it was determined that Smith was indeed impaired by drugs.
Smith is scheduled to appear in Livonia Town Court at a later date.
The investigation and arrest was handled by Deputy Brandan Flickner. Assisting was Deputy Robert Holt, Deputy Michael Wade both of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and the Rochester Police Department.
