Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Monroe County woman on DWI and cocaine related charges after a traffic stop.
On April 17, 2019 Deputy Matthew Thomas was assigned to the Sheriff’s STOP DWI Unit when he stopped a vehicle on East Avon Lima Road (State Route 5 & 20) in the Town of Avon for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as 27 year old Amanda J. Bennett of Henrietta. The Deputy Sheriff suspected that Bennet was under the influence of alcohol and conducted a DWI investigation that included the performance of field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the roadside investigation, Bennett was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated. Bennett was then transported to Central Booking at the Livingston County Jail where Deputy Korey Gillen of the Jail Division administered a breathalyzer test on Bennett. The results of the breathalyzer test revealed that Bennett’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was .14%.
During his investigation, the Deputy Sheriff also found that Bennett was in possession of cocaine. Bennett was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. Bennett was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Bennett was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Conesus Justice Ellen Coyne. The Judge release Bennett on her own recognizance.
