LIVONIA – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Hemlock, NY resident on a DWI refusal and a drug related charge following a traffic stop. On November 4, 2018 Deputy Michael Phillips was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office STOP DWI Unit when he stopped a vehicle on Plank Road in the Town of Livonia for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 29 year old Melissa L. Ripley. The Deputy Sheriff suspected that Ripley was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and conducted a DWI investigation which included the performance of standardized field sobriety tests. At
the conclusion of the roadside investigation, Ripley was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated.
Ripley was then transported to the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters in Geneseo where she refused to take a breathalyzer test. Ripley was processed on the DWI charge. During the investigation, it was also found that Ripley was in possession of concentrated cannabis. As a result, Ripley was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.
Ripley was the turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Ripley was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Village of Avon Justice Joseph Temperato. The Judge remanded Ripley to the custody of the Sheriff on $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.
