LIVINGSTON COUNTY – Local heart-healthy food vendors gathered at the Genesee River Restaurant in Mount Morris on Tuesday to serve delicious dishes at the 18th annual Taste of Livingston County.
The 14 vendors had to submit their menus to scrutiny by event organizers to be approved for participation. The Livingston County Health Department and Genesee Valley Health Partnership GVHP encourage these vendors to continue to offer heart-healthy options.
“The turnout is great, the food is great, and we’re happy to bring so many healthy options to the table tonight,” said Lisa Beardsley, Public Health Educator for the Livingston County Department of Health. “We continue to focus on chronic disease prevention, and a huge part of that is having healthy eating habits.”
GVHP awarded one of its founding members, Joan Ellison, for her dedicated service to Livingston County residents.
Hundreds of attendees enjoyed the tasty options to tunes by the Geneseo String Band.
Participating vendors were Applebees, the Beachcomber, Cafe Shiloh, Genesee River Restaurant, Gobblers Ridge, Lavender Fields Recalibrating Health and Wellness, the 3 Legged Pig, Leisure’s Restaurant, Partyman Catering, Questa Lasagna, Reminisce Soda Fountain, Suzea’s Gluten Free Bakery, Sweet Caledonia Swine, and Wegmans.
The event is always made possible by a culmination of Livingston County businesses and charities. All event proceeds were donated to the Arc of Livingston Wyoming.
ESL Charitable Foundation, Summit Family Dental, Excellus BCBS, Noyes Health and Wellness Referral Services, Pomco, YourCare Health Plan, RPCN, The Long Agency, Inc., Allen-Bailey Tag and Label, and DETAILS Event Planning gave monetary gifts.
