GENESEO — SUNY Geneseo President Denise Battles and Mayor Richard Hatheway are hosting a Community Chat Today, Nov. 8.
The chat will be at the Livingston County Historical Society Museum, 30 Center Street, from 4:30 until 6 p.m.
“This is a means for connecting with the community,” said Hatheway. “It shows that the Village and College will work together to solve issues in the community.”
The Healthy Campus Community Coalition’s newly hired grant coordinator will be attending to answer any questions the community has.
The Coalition was reinstated in October 2016 after about a year in limbo.
At the time, Battles cited the following reasons for continuing the coalition:
- the continued relevance to our community of the HCCC’s goal, namely to promote the responsible, safe and legal use of alcohol.
- the efficacy (as established through research) of campus-community coalitions in advancing that goal
- the potential for effective partnerships among the College, village and other community organizations (like CASA, the Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse of Livingston County), which build on other efforts like our recently refreshed Village-College Relations Compact.
