Hazardous Materials Leak in Henrietta

HENRIETTA — There was a level 1 hazmat situation this morning on Jefferson Rd. near North Winton Rd. and across from the NYS Department of Transportation.  Five people were injured; two critically, one seriously and two with minor injuries.  The spill occurred around 9:30am from the building that had been purchased by Amesbury Truth.  The company is in the process of relocating.  The workers were in the process of shutting down the operation and dismantling the tanks and pipes when the spill occurred.

Henrietta Fire Department and the Monroe County Hazmat Team were at the scene and will be assessing the situation to assure that there are no further leaks.  Fire officials say there is no threat to the public.
