GENESEO – The Town of Geneseo Planning Board voted unanimously in favor of an expansion at the Hammocks apartment complex on Volunteer Road.
The Hammocks is now approved to put second stories on 7 buildings, adding 70 units to the complex. Four community members came out to the Geneseo building on Monday for the public hearing and voiced some basic concerns about the project’s possible impact on traffic and drainage.
“Traffic studies indicate minimal traffic increases on Volunteer Road and connecting roads,” said Dwight Folts, chairman of the Planning Board. “Most of the people there are retired. On the other hand, Coast Professionals are in and out of there all the time.”
Andy Morose, site engineer for the project with BME Associates, said that existing flood controlling infrastructure will be able to handle up 100-year flood conditions.
Folts said that engineers with MRB Group reviewed the project without further comment.
Construction will most likely begin in March or April of 2016.
The Hammocks were completed in June 2014. Apartments include private garages and entrances, balconies, and patios.
