According to a recent press statement from Governor Cuomo, “Gyms and fitness centers will be allowed to reopen at limited capacity while following rigorous safety protocols on August 24th.” The Livingston County Department of Health (LCDOH) is charged with enforcing the guidelines to help ensure fitness facilities reopen safely to protect the public’s health.
According to Jennifer Rodriguez, Livingston County Public Health Director, “We are happy to have reached a point where residents can continue with their healthy daily habits, but it is also important for residents and fitness center owners to use caution and follow guidance to keep residents safe.”
The Center for Environmental Health of the Livingston County Department of Health will be conducting inspections within 14 days of reopening any fitness facility. Some of the guidance requires:
· Capacity to be limited to 33%
· Appropriate face coverings required at all times
· 6 feet of separation at all times
· A sign-in with contact information and health screening required. The sign-in will help should contact tracing be needed.
