Groveland Inmate Heads Back to Prison after Fight

LIVINGSTON COUNTY – A judge sentenced a former inmate at Groveland Correctional Facility to an additional prison term on Thursday.

Carlos O’Neal, 27, was sentenced to 1 1/2 to 3 years in prison for Attempted Assault in the Second Degree. Livingston County Probation conducted a pre-sentence investigation (PSI) to recommend an appropriate sentence.

“We have received the PSI and have no changes or issues,” said Assistant Public Defender John D’Arpino.

O’Neal was convicted of felony Robbery in the First Degree in May 2011. He served 5 years in prison, during which time he fought another inmate at Groveland Correctional.

“There seems to be agreement between Probation and you that you have anger and impulse issues,” said Livingston County Court Judge Dennis Cohen at sentencing.
