GROVELAND — The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) announced that the Groveland Volunteer Fire Department has been selected as one of the winners of FASNY’s “Ultimate Recruitment Toolkit.”
According to a press release from FASNY, the Groveland Fire Department was randomly selected from a pool of 253 fire departments that registered early for FASNY’s 6th Annual RecruitNY weekend, Groveland Volunteer Fire Department will be receiving more than $1000 worth of materials to help promote their upcoming open house.
The prize package includes a 12-foot by 4-foot banner to display in front of the firehouse, yard signs for display in the community, flyers, cards, and other printed resources to distribute, T-shirts for department members, and a red, 20-foot novelty “Air Dancer” to grab attention for the open house and for department events all-year round.
The Groveland Fire Department’s secretary, Megan Linser, who is also wife to the Chief, Bill Linser, submitted the application to FASNY.
The Groveland Fire Department is hosting an open house for RecruitNY on April 23. Residents of Groveland can expect to see these promotional materials throughout the community in advance of RecruitNY weekend.
All across New York State, volunteer fire departments will open their firehouse doors to the public on the weekend of April 23 and 24 as part of the sixth annual RecruitNYstatewide volunteer firefighter recruitment campaign. RecruitNY is a major initiative designed to increase membership in volunteer fire departments across the state.
Throughout the weekend, fire department volunteers will conduct tours of their facilities, demonstrate firefighting techniques, allow visitors to try on turnout gear, and provide other exciting activities to give visitors a taste of the fire service.
Families and children are welcome. Members will discuss the requirements and rewards of being a volunteer firefighter, and speak with interested visitors about the process of joining their local department.
