“I came up with the name Wako Taco because none of the tacos on the menu are real tacos, they are wako,” said Yager.
According to Yager, the goal for Wako Taco is to expand to college towns. Wako Taco is located in a small building, but offers tables and chairs on the patio as well as inside. All orders are packaged to go. Almost everything served at Wako Taco is authentic Mexican down to the soda and beer.
“It has a very Key West vacation feel inside,” said Yager.
Cole is more a financial investor whereas Yager runs the operations.
“When I saw the menu, I knew it would be something people would enjoy,” said Cole. “ It’s Trey’s vision, it’s fun, hip, eclectic.”
According to Yager, no advertising was done prior to the grand opening today, however advertising may be done through radio for Saturday as they foresee Saturday to be a busy day.
“We really like the atmosphere, it’s fun,” said Paige Wesolowski, Senior at SUNY Geneseo, who came for lunch with a group of friends. “It is locally owned, so I don’t mind paying an extra dollar or two more because it saves a trip somewhere farther away.”
