Rosa Gonzalez, 37, was previously convicted of possessing crack cocaine in Mt Morris, with intent to sell. Shoplifting from a store on Main Street Geneseo violated the terms of her probation and greatly increased her sentence.
“You are wrong to say that you are a responsible mother,” said a somber Livingston County Judge Robert Wiggins. “It is wrong to teach children to shoplift. I am sentencing you to the minimum, but that does not change the disappointment and sadness of your situation.”
Gonzalez will spend two years in State prison, the minimum of a possible 12.
The child that helped her to shoplift was not her own.
