MOUNT MORRIS – A local couple are offering their locally grown, free range turkeys, chickens, Cornish hens, and hams for sale for the holidays, giving Livingston County residents a chance to shop local, healthy and delicious.
Steve and Jodi Lyn Teed at Beau Teed Farm raise their animals at 6785 Creek Road in Mount Morris, following a strict policy of no chemicals, no antibiotics, and no steroids. Their biggest buyers are not individuals but high-end restaurants in Rochester, Ithaca, and Canandaigua Lake.
“I have a food allergy, so I can’t be around it or eat it any other way,” said Jodi. “Everything is under the sky and on the grass. Come August, it would be easier to put down some weed killer or Roundup and not pull weeds, but this is how we do it.”
Turkeys and chickens are $4 per pound, hams $5 per pound, and Cornish hens are $10 apeice. You can call the farm at (585) 313-3219 to place an order.
Jodi Teed added that all of their products are organic and all-natural. They always sell out of harvest blend cider by the end of every week during the fall. They press seven kinds of apples, a few pears and grapes into the cider. The poultry and hogs are raised on a combination of Keystone Mills All Natural Feed along with fruits and vegetables from the farm.
Among the restaurants Beau Teed Farm regularly provides with food are the Brown Hound Bistro in South Bristol, Agava in Ithaca, and Avvinos in Rochester. They will be featured on the expanded menu of the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester.
