LIVINGSTON COUNTY — A Mount Morris man accused of stealing a car on Christmas Eve and crashing it, has been declare mentally unfit for trial.
Justin Gledhill, 20, appeared in Livingston County Court on Tuesday, where he was told by Judge Robert Wiggins that he will be committed in a mental health facility until he is capable of his own defense in court proceedings.
Gledhill stands accused of stealing a car on Christmas Eve . Livingston County Sheriff Deputies allege that Gledhill was riding as a passenger in the vehicle when the driver stopped at a family member’s home and walked inside. Gledhill then allegedly got in the driver’s seat and took off. In court, family members told the Sun that Gledhill is innocent and that his friends gave him permission to use the car as they have many times before.
Gledhill was arrested for felony Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
