The Lady Devils took the first set 25-11, the second set 25-9, and the deciding set 25-15.
Head coach Chris Butera said he was proud of his entire team on Wedensday night, especially the seven seniors, who were honored before the game.
“The girls came ready to play, it’s senior night, so emotions were running high,” Butera said. “We have seven seniors on the team, so they wanted to put on a good performance and we passed well and served well and that’s what won us the game.”
Butera also spoke about the impact this senior class has had, on-and-off the court.
“A couple of the seniors play leadership roles on the court, through their play, they’re dominant players,” he said. “Some of the seniors are more dominant off the court, as far as being a leader, getting the team to rally around them, organizing things, so it’s a good balance of people on the court and off the court, everyone knows their role.”
Butera also stressed the importance of a win on Senior Night.
“You always want to win on Senior Night, you never want to lose your last regular season home game,” Butera said. “It’s fun for the girls, it’s fun for the community and it’s all about them and their families and all the hard work they’ve put in.
Geneseo (15-2) will play their last regular season game of the year tomorrow on the road against York, starting at 6.
