GENESEO — The Geneseo girl’s volleyball team continued their winning ways Friday night, with a win over the Perry Yellowjackets in three sets.
The Lady Devils would take the first set 25-13, the second set 25-20, and the final set 25-22.
Head coach Chris Butera said he liked what he saw from his team.
“I was happy with the way we started the game, we’ve been working on starting games with intensity and trying to get out to leads and we did that,” Butera said. “Perry fought back, they weren’t going to lie down and they got a little hotter as the game went on and it got to be a really good game. I think we made fewer mistakes than them, and that’s what it came down to, and we took care of the free balls a little better, but we still have work to do.”
Butera said one of his focuses is for his team to always take their play to the next level, even with their success through the early season.
“I always set the bar high for them,” Butera said. “No matter how well we do, if we win a game, if we win a tournament, if we fight back, I always set the bar for higher. I know if we sit down and become complacent then that’s when we get beat by someone we shouldn’t. If we get beat by someone who’s better than us, that’s fine, but if we become complacent then that’s when things start to unravel.”
Geneseo (9-1) will face their next test at home against York on Tuesday at 6:00. Perry (6-5) will host Cal-Mum on Tuesday at 6:00.
