GENESEO – The Geneseo Blue Devils earned their first victory of the DIII season against the Cal-Mum Red Raiders Thursday evening.

The Red Raiders took the first game 28-26 but the Blue Devils came back to win the next three 25-22, 25-17, 25-11. Rachael Nicholls logged 15 kills and 12 digs on the night for the Blue Devils with Stephanie Ledwith adding 27 assists. Alison Meyers contributed 6 kills and 2 blocks. Emily MacDonald put up a strong fight for the Red Raiders with 21 digs.
“We started out very slow and tentative while Cal-Mum was firing on all cylinders,” said Blue Devils coach Chris Butera. “As the game went on we settled down and our senior leaders took control of the match and the team followed them. It was great match to coach and to watch.”
The Blue Devils are 3-1 overall and 1-0 in division play while the Red Raiders are 3-1 overall and 0-1 in division competition. The Blue Devils next match will be away at Letchworth on Monday, September 15 at 6p.m.
