GENESEO – The Geneseo Blue Devils came out on top 27-25, 25-22, 25-17 over Caledonia-Mumford’s Red Raiders in a closely contested match Friday evening.
Senior Abbey Anderson logged 13 digs for the Blue Devils while freshman Stefanie Ledwith contributed 29 assists and 4 digs of her own. Senior Rachael Nicholls also put up 15 kills and 13 digs. For the Raiders, freshman Andrea Coyle recorded 10 kills and junior Emily MacDonald added 17 digs.
“Our defense started out a little shaky against a strong serving Cal-Mum team, but Rachael, Abbey and Sam stepped up their serve receive and we were able to get the ball to our hitters and dictate the tempo,” said Head Coach Christopher Butera. “It was a great match to coach and be a part of between two teams that refused to give up.”
The Blue Devils are now 12-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 in Division III competition. Cal-Mum’s Red Raiders are 7-5 overall with a 2-3 league record.
The Blue Devils next match will be away at Warsaw on Tuesday, October 7 at 5p.m.
