CALEDONIA — The Cal-Mum Lady Raiders won big on Tuesday night, defeating Bishop Kearny 3-0 in the Class CC Sectional semi-finals.
The Lady Raiders controlled the first half of the game getting four shots on goal, while Bishop Kearny only had two.
Going into half, both teams played tough not letting any goals in and forcing a tight game.
Starting the second half, the Lady Raiders went right to work, as sophomore Jessica Garland scored the first goal of the game, on a rebound off the crossbar at the 25-minute-mark. At the 12-minute-mark sophomore Claudia Haut added the second goal of the night, off a well-placed corner by Garland. With only six minutes left in the game, sophomore Maddie Shoemaker scored a long shot for the final goal.
“Tonight was a good win for us,” Lady Raiders head coach Chad Schalk said. “It feels good to be back in the finals again and I’m proud of the girls tonight they played great and didn’t have any lack of effort”
Cal-Mum (13-2-3) plays in the Sectional finals against No.1 seeded Kendall on Friday at Webster-Schroder.
