The Blue Devils got off to a strong start. Sophomore Natalie Peraino scored two goals within the first five minutes, assisted by sophomore Vicki Finn and senior Michayla Salatel respectively. 25 minutes into the first half, Salatel scored a goal of her own off another assist by Finn. A minute later, junior Jackie Frost put one into the net to make the score 4-0. Salatel scored again off an assist from Frost to put the Blue Devils up 5-0 at halftime.
“This was a nice all around victory. The girls all played well and really worked together to implement some adjustments we’ve been working on this week in practice,” said Head Coach Nicholas Drollette. “I was happy to see our midfield control the pace of play. Their touches on the turf were certainly improved from the last time playing on that surface. Across the board I was pleased with the play of all 16 girls tonight.”
The Blue Devils continued to control the game in the second half. Senior Michayla Salatel scored again 11 minutes into the second half, earning herself a hat trick. Senior Hailey Hopper scored goal number 7 for the Blue Devils assisted by freshman Kaity Keihl. The final goal was scored by sophomore Vicki Finn.
The Blue Devils are now 9-4-1 while Perry’s Yellowjackets are 3-10-0.
