GENESEO – The Geneseo Blue Devils defeated the Dundee Scots 5-0 Friday evening in the Section V Class CC quarterfinals.
Sophomore Lydia Johnson scored the first goal for the Blue Devils assisted by freshman Kaity Keihl. Two minutes later, Keihl added a goal of her own assisted by junior Jackie Frost to bring the score to 2-0. Sophomore Vicki Finn rounded out the game for the Blue Devils with a hat trick. Finn’s first goal was assisted by senior Hailey Hopper and her second goal was assisted by Kaity Keihl.
“The last week and a half the team has worked harder than I’ve seen all year. I challenged them after the loss to York and I knew we would have one of two results,” said Head Coach Nicholas Drollette. “Either they would react poorly to the challenge and the intensity I required over the last week or they would rise to the occasion. Tonight it was clear to everyone who watched just what reaction we got out of them for the last 6 days of practice.”
With this victory, the Blue Devils advance to the Section V Class CC semifinals where they will play Cal-Mum’s Red Raiders.
“It was nice to see us bounce back. We hadn’t scored since Michayla went down at Keshequa and to have 3 goal scorers was key,” continued Head Coach Nicholas Drollette. “More importantly, everyone contributed to this win. Multiple players had their best game of the year and to have that come in the sectionals is what every coach wants.”
