GENESEO – The Geneseo girls’ soccer team put in a solid performance to earn a 2-0 victory over the LeRoy Knights Tuesday evening.
Natalie Peraino scored the first goal for Geneseo in the 20th minute. Geneseo scored again early in the second half when Kaity Keihl put one past the goalie, assisted by Michayla Salatel. Goalie Alexa Salatel logged five saves on the night; a key contribution to Geneseo’s victory.
“Playing in a new system is never easy. The fact that these girls were able to make the massive adjustments we made following the Wheatland-Chili tournament says a lot about the willingness to learn,” said Geneseo coach Nicholas Drollette. “The midfield played very solidly tonight and we were able to play our forwards in behind LeRoy’s back line. I thought we did a good job of creating chances and were able to finish two beautiful opportunities.”
This win brings Geneseo’s record to 1-1-1 while LeRoy is now 0-0-3.
Geneseo will play their next match at Cal-Mum on September 13 at 6p.m.
