CALEDONIA — In girls’ soccer action, the Cal-Mum Lady Raiders and the Avon Lady Braves dueled to a 0-0 tie, Wednesday night.
The story of the game for all 100 minutes was the play of both defenses and keepers, respectively, as the tie came down to both teams being aggressive and making saves when needed.
Lady Raiders head coach Chad Schalk was impressed with the effort defensively, but knew scoring chances were available during the game.
“The defense was to take the two, midfielder (Abigail) Keenan and middle (Kali) Mouw, out of the game, which I thought we did a pretty good job of in the first half,”Schalk said. We had plenty of chances to score in the first half, we had the penalty kick that we missed and we had some other opportunities with some quality shots. We’re happy with the effort and pleased with how hard we worked, but we needed to put one in the back.”
Cal-Mum (4-1-1) plays next on Saturday, at home against Warsaw.
