GENESEO— On Tuesday night under the lights, the Geneseo girl’s soccer team captured another big win at home.
Blue Devil Kelly Lynch, scored the first goal of the game 17 minutes into the first half. Geneseo’s smart defense held off Pavilion from scoring before halftime.
“First half we came out and scored the first goal and our team got kinda cocky and we underestimated Pavilion’s offense,”
said Geneseo’s Haily Hopper.
Fourteen minutes into the second half, Pavilion’s offense came out strong to score their first goal of the game. After the goal, Geneseo’s head coach made some key player changes and that’s where the game turned around for the Blue Devils.
Geneseo’s key defender of the night, Kennedy Abbott, cleared the ball from the back, up to Kelly Lynch, who then made a amazing pass to teammate Hailey Hopper for a goal with 15 minutes left to play.
Geneseo would hold off Pavilion from scoring for the rest of the game and then with 23 seconds left on the clock, Haily Hopper made a great pass to Elizabeth Kaye to end the game 3-1.
“We started out flat at first and got caught on our heels but our defense played hard to allow our offense to come back
and score two more goals,” said head coach Jennifer Bugbee.
Geneseo’s next game will be at home on Thursday night against Cal-mum @ 4:30pm.
